After christmas I stock up on Hyacinths in the sales. When you want a feeling of spring then pink is the right colour. It does not matter to me if they have bloomed, since I treat them as cut flowers with a bulb. The soil and roots tend to be quite dry. Therefore it is important to start with a good dose of water. Generally speaking bulbs will be fine without water but the dry indoor air makes the bulbs lose their elasticity if they get to dry out too much. After watering I remove the plastic pots to make sure that as many as possible fit in a larger pot.

I managed to get 9 bulbs into this old cake tin and used a few blueberry twigs to support the tallest stalks.
